The China Centre will host a graduation party for student graduating this December, celebrating their hard work and achievements. This special event will bring together graduates and their family and friends to mark this significant milestone and honour their academic journey. 

The China Centre will host an alumni sharing session on December 28, focusing on integrating finance and management through our part-time MSc Financial Management programme. The event will feature Jason Ma, Finance Head of 800 TeleServices Group and Student Representative of the MSc Financial Management Sep 2022 intake, who will share his learning journey, career insights, and expertise in financial analysis and decision-making. 

On January 11,2025, the welcome ceremony for Global MBA January 2025 intake will be held at China Centre. The new cohort of students will gather to embark on their two-year journey with the Global MBA Programme.  

On October 21, in partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, the China Centre hosted a captivating event featuring Professor Ken McPhail, Head of Alliance Manchester Business School. The session drew a lively and engaged crowd, eager to explore the theme of Innovation for Sustainable Growth: Balancing Profit, Social Impact, and Environmental Value. The event not only provided valuable insights but also sparked deep discussions on the role of businesses in shaping a sustainable future.

On October 14, Dr. Marie-Aimee Tourres, MBA Workshop Instructor at AMBS, delivered a masterclass at the China Centre titled "Navigating 2025: Global Trends and Leadership for Chinese Business." The session explored the shifting dynamics of globalisation, the challenges posed by economic uncertainties, and the key skills leaders need to help their businesses stay competitive in an evolving global market.

On September 25, Prof. Arif Khurshed, Professor of Finance at AMBS, presented an insightful lecture at the China Centre titled "How to Make the Right Corporate Financial Decisions." The session provided valuable perspectives on essential factors in financial decision-making and approaches to minimizing potential risks. 

On August 31, the China Centre hosted an academic drink & masterclass featuring Professor Paul Taaffe, Operations Management Course Co-ordinator at AMBS. The session, themed "Empowering Your Businesses Through Operations Strategy," explored strategies for optimising processes, enhancing efficiency, and aligning operations with overall business goals to drive long-term success. 

On July 14, Ismail Ertürk, Senior Lecturer in Banking and Director of Social Responsibility & Engagement at AMBS, delivered a masterclass on "Managing Global Transition Challenges with the ESG Tool" in Beijing. The session provided valuable insights into global market trends, ESG management concepts, and strategies for navigating complexities in the international business landscape.

On December 8, the China Centre hosted the Educators Club Series: Leading with Compassion event, featuring discussions with Carina Ma, a current MA Educational Leadership in Practice student and experienced international educator, and psychological counseling expert Davy Guo. The event explored challenges and effective strategies for fostering well-being and resilience in international schools through compassionate leadership and staff management. 

In November, the UoM China Centre team, together with senior alumni and industry experts, successfully hosted two sharing salons in Beijing focused on career transformation and leadership development from a global perspective. The events provided a valuable platform for professionals to strengthen core competencies, plan their career development, and explore UoM’s high-quality online and blended education programs. 

On November 22, the China Centre had the privilege of hosting Curtis Baker (he/him), Head of Inclusion, Diversity & Equity, Asia Pacific at Dow, for a thought-provoking discussion on the transformative power of inclusion, diversity, and equity (DEI).

On November 15, the China Centre hosted the Global MBA Alumni Career Talk, featuring Ms. Annabelle Li, Regional Training Manager at a leading luxury group and an alumna of the Manchester Global MBA. During her keynote, Annabelle shared valuable insights on career navigation, leadership development, and building effective training programs, offering professionals a unique opportunity to gain inspiration from her successful journey. 

On September 12, Charles Gao, Partner at Global Talent Capital (APAC) and an alumnus of the Manchester Global MBA, shared insightful perspectives on career development. With his extensive experience in human resource management and corporate talent development, Charles guided the audience through their professional journeys, offering strategies to identify and seize new opportunities.

On December 7, the China Centre hosted a book launch event featuring alumnus Dr. Weixu Ding and his new book, the T-Model: Innovative Strategies for Resilient Growth in SMEs. Dr. Ding shared his perspectives on how businesses can sustain a competitive edge and achieve high-quality growth in the evolving landscape of the modern era. 

The UoM AI Forum "AI for Business" was successfully held on September 21 at the Banma Suhe International Conference Centre. Nearly 100 participants registered for the event, including representatives from "Hai Ju Yingcai" award-winning enterprises and numerous returned overseas alumni. 

On August 17, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the University of Manchester, UoM China Business Forum was successfully held at China Centre. Over 70 alumni attended the event. SORSA UoM Alumni Association Young Professionals Career Development Club was officially established. 

On August 9, UoM China Centre Alumni Marketing Club's visit to The Lester School and Henry Lester Institute of Technical Education was successfully held. Dozens of alumni signed up to participate. Under the guidance of researchers from the Shanghai Institute of Innovation and Creative Design, they gained an in-depth understanding of the past and present of this "Ancient castle on the North Bund".

UoM China Centre Alumni Public Speech Club has successfully conducted five events to date, each designed to cultivate participants' public speaking skills while also fostering their ability to actively listen and provide feedback. By offering a platform for alumni to share ideas and experiences, and refine their communication abilities, the club serves as a meaningful bridge connecting alumni with the broader professional community.
