China Centre welcomed a new group of Manchester Global MBA

5th July,  a very warm welcome was presented to the Global MBA July 2016 intake by China Centre. The induction ceremony for this fresh and aspiring cohort was held in Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Shanghai.
Among the students starting the MBA course this July, there are professionals across several main industries – Pharmaceutical, Automobile, Manufacture, Chemical, Retail, Media, Banking and Finance etc. A very diverse background has been seen. Most students are based in East China in Shanghai and nearby cities, while some are located in the Northern and Western Regions of China. Among all, there are many expats including those from Denmark, France, Greece, Japan, Spain, Singapore, United States and Hong Kong region working and living in China. On average, 11 years of work experience have been accumulated and shared, ranging from 4 to 22 years.
The students received an official welcome message from China Centre Director Ms. Sherry Fu, who congratulated the cohort upon embarking on their challenging yet rewarding international MBA journey. Dr. Paul Evans, who is to deliver the first module Global Business Environment, shared with students what they should expect going through this part-time global MBA. Academically, Associate Director Dr. Jiyao Xun spent some time explaining the key points to be noted in academic integrity and how to thrive academically and enjoy the course at the same time. Afterwards, student support team was introduced to the students as their future points of contact regarding study affairs. External Relation Officer Ms.

Roya Zhang later introduced herself and her role looking after student and alumni activities. Continuing the tradition, the students took part in the Tower Exercise in groups and were invited to compete against each other on stage for the best design and construction of towers. A collection of different towers varying in shapes, heights and building were both impressive and amusing to see.
The July 2016 intake is the last cohort on the 2.5 year structure as the programme moves towards a structure under a 2-year framework. This move will facilitate students to finish their MBA within a shorter period of time while receiving the same level of excellence on Manchester Global MBA programmes.
