President's Virtual Reception

East and Southeast Asia

Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President & Vice-Chancellor of The University of Manchester, would love you to join us for a virtual reception on Monday, 11 April, 12.30pm (British Summer Time). You'll be welcomed alongside other alumni based in East & Southeast Asia.

This event will be a celebration of ‘The Power of Networking’ and the many ways in which alumni enrich the student experience and support those who've recently graduated.

A great example of this is one of Manchester's flagship alumni-to-student programmes: Global Graduates, which marks its tenth year running in 2022 and is a unique combination of alumni philanthropy and volunteering.

At this reception we'll learn about:

•How Global Graduates has benefited students who took part;

•The rewarding experience of the alumni who’ve supported;

•How you can make use of your alumni network for mutual benefit; to be a positive influence on recent graduates to or to benefit from the knowledge and experience from alumni 

•We'll also discuss graduates whose experience has been displaced by the pandemic, particularly those who have missed out on a graduation ceremony.

President and Vice-Chancellor

Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell

Dame Nancy became President and Vice-Chancellor in July 2010, the first woman to lead The University of Manchester or either of its two predecessor institutions.

She was the founding President of the Society of Biology, and was a non-executive Director of AstraZeneca and a Royal Society Council Member. She is currently co-Chair of the Prime Minister's Council for Science and Technology, a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester, and a member of the Greater Manchester Local Enterprise Partnership Board.
