Director's Message

With the coming of summer vacation, we’ve just experienced a harvest month of July: we welcomed July21 Global MBA cohort, delivered virtual graduation ceremony in Centre, and hosted President’s online event as well as a fantastic GMBA alumni reunion party in Shanghai!

To echo the University’s culture engagement goal, We organized the 3rd Mculture cultural tour for international students to Jiaxing historical city in May 2021, achieving wide media coverage in the nation. Our cultural and arts progreammes aim to promote an easier access to culture across wider communities, to encourage cross-cultural communication and advance cultural understanding among different nationalities. Years of receiving national and municipal support and winning the title of ‘Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association excellent project on people-to-people diplomacy’, Mculture is working towards hosting more cultural projects where a larger UoM impact could be made possible through a stronger cross-cultural link in China. In the coming years, we hope to establish internal partnership such as hosting cross-cultural exhibitions with the new Chinese Culture Gallery to be opened at Manchester Museum.

After a diligent semester, we sincerely wish you a wonderful summer. As Prof. Rothwell said at the UoM virtual graduation 2021 – “Don’t underestimate what you’ve ever achieved”! We hope we could all carry this mindset and do our part for the University and to our communities.

Sherry Fu

China Centre Director
