Hello and welcome to the MBS China Centre quarterly newsletter on this beautiful May day!
For the last three months, we were fully engaged with marketing, recruitment and student activities. One of the most interesting student gatherings was held on March 9, when I presented awards to a group of students who won the global contest of tower exercises. I was delighted to see them smartly display the great results of their hard work on their studies. They clearly demonstrated that ‘solidarity means victory’! I also loved to hear about students’ stimulating workshop experiences at other international MBS centres. Many told me Miami is so beautiful--I really wish I could go as well. It’s the only MBS centre I’ve never visited.
Last month, we welcomed Lord Wei, the youngest member of the House of Lord’s, on his visit to the China centre. I also joined him on his visits to Beijing, Chongqing and Chengdu. The highlight of the visits was the meeting with the Mayor of Chengdu. I appreciated Lord Wei’s presence at our alumni receptions and dinners in these cities and his very inspiring speeches to Manchester alumni and students. It was also very inspiring that George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer of UK name checked MBS china Centre’s at the Launching Ceremony of the Manchester-China Forum on 26 April. As the only UK business school that has an international executive centre in China, we will continue to play an important role to forge UK links with China Business.
For your friends and colleagues who may be interested in MBS, please keep in mind the close of the July13 intake recruitment is approaching. Sherry Fu
