Dialogue with Former CFO of Bright Food Group on Strategic Thinking and Negotiation Skills

6th April, China Centre was honored to invite Mr. Xiaofeng Cao, former CFO of Bright Food Group China, to share with the alumni. Many alumni came to join this event. Mr. Cao has over 30 years of financial management experiences in Chinese State-owned enterprises. During his tenures, he has taken on leading roles in various food & drinks and consumer products companies and witnessed the growth of the Chinese SoEs.

He has been leading in the overseas investment strategy for Bright Food Group, especially in the acquisition of Weetabix, one of the world's top cereal brands, based in the UK and afterwards the introduction into the China market.

He also led in other overseas acquisition deals, including UB, Yolplait, Weetabix, and Tnuva. During the event, Mr. Cao shared with alumni the insights and his experiences from those overseas investments.

Different from the pure academic teaching, Mr. Cao explained in details and practically of the strategy, challenges, skills and financial theories behind each deal, especially the innovative approaches by their team when dealing with each different stakeholder from different country.

There has been an increasing number of overseas investments by the Chinese enterprises. Shared challenges among them have been various unexpected difficulties, including the real merger after the M&A deals. After the speech, attending alumni raised a lot of questions. The event finally last till very late in the night. The event inspired alumni to have a deeper understanding of what they’ve learnt from the academic study and put into real practice in their future work.
