UoM China Educator Club Launched in UoM China Centre, Shanghai

On Friday, March 10th, the launching ceremony for The University of Manchester China Centre Educator Club was held at UoM China Centre in Shanghai. The mix-cohort students of The University of Manchester's MA Educational Leadership in Practice (ELiP) course, who are the main members of the Educator Club, participated in the event either onsite or online via livestreaming.

Ms. Sherry Fu, Director of the UoM China Centre, while delivering an opening speech, emphasized the significance of launching the club on the occasion of celebrating the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China Centre.

She believed the club will not only serve as a hub to connect our students, international education experts and educational institutions, providing platform for members to learn from industrial peers, exchange opportunities, but also provide a talent base for the whole international education community.

Ms. Su Si, Head of Education (China) at the Department for Business and Trade, British Consulate General Shanghai was invited to the ceremony and delivered a guest speech. Ms. Su congratulated the establishment of the club and updated the current achievement and upcoming projects of Sino-UK education partnership.

Mr. Daniel Xuan, Principal of Centro Education International (ELiP Class of 2021), Ms. Helen Liu, Assistant Principal and Head of Primary Department of Shanghai United International School Qingpu Campus (ELiP Class of 2022), and Mr. Paul Mak, Founder CEO of TTELG Education Group (ELiP Class of 2023), presented as student representatives to share their expectations for joining the club, and contributed their insights and suggestions for upcoming events as well as future development.

In addition to industry sharing sessions, partnership development is also a vital mission of the Educator Club. In 2022, UoM China Centre signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Shanghai Xiehe Education Group to provide solutions for the development of management talents in educational institutions. Ms. Maxine Lu, General Principal of Xiehe Education Group, was also invited to share her insights into the integration of Eastern and Western Education for ELiP students. During the ceremony, Ms. Fu granted "UoM-Xiehe Talent Development Scholarship" for ELiP students from Xiehe Education Group.

As part of the inauguration ceremony for UoM MA ELiP Feb.23 intake, the establishment of the UoM China Educator Club further enhanced the students’ learning experience of the university’s part-time master courses. It also signifies the China Centre’s commitment to developing the university's alumni network as well as on integrating local resources, with a mission to provide students and alumni in China with a broader platform of communication, access to cutting-edge industry information, and a vibrant ecosystem for career development.
