The University of Manchester Class of 2021 Graduation Celebration Held in Shenzhen, China

14th of December is an unforgettable day for all the 2021 Chinese graduates of the University of Manchester. More than 200 fresh graduates from Greater China Region gathered together to celebrate their graduation in Shenzhen, China. More than 4,000 graduates and their parents and friends joined live-streaming ceremony. Ms Sherry Fu, joined by senior officers from China Centre and more than 20 distinguished guests and alumni joined the celebration in Shenzhen.

The Graduation Ceremony was hosted by the University of Manchester China Centre and organized by UoM China Graduation Ceremony Committee – 35 volunteers of these years’ graduates. The event was strictly followed COVID-19 safety guidelines from the local government and received preapproval from relevant departments.

Dame Professor Nancy Rothwell, President of the University of Manchester sent her best wishes via a video speech. “My warmest congratulation on graduating, it has been a truly exceptional year for all of us. You, the 2020-2021 cohort has demonstrated through blended online and face-to-face learning - what future education looks like. I hope sometime in the future I would be able to see you all in person and as soon as you can visit us, please do so.”

Followed by Dame Nancy Rothwell’s congratulatory message, Ms Sherry Fu delivered her speech to 2021 graduates. “everyone here is a young talent and treasure of our country. No matter when and where, the University of Manchester will always be your harbor, the door of the University will always open for you. Hope you all can visit Manchester in the near future, to experience the unique atmosphere of Manchester City. UoM China Centre is the link between the University and China; and we will always stand with you and continue to play a more active role in promoting the University of Manchester in China and Sino-UK educational cooperation as a whole.

During the Graduation Ceremony, Alumni Development Forum was held for the purpose of helping fresh graduates ‘career planning and development. Senior alumni Ms Chen Xiuying, President of Guandong Alumni Association, Mr Charles Gao, GMBA alumnus, Business Development Director of Hays China, Yip Ye, Vice President of HSBC, and Mr Wei Xin, founder of Kuai Education, shared their career experience with 2021 graduates, wishing them every success in the future.
