On behalf of The University of Manchester China Centre, Ms. Sherry Fu welcomed the distinguished guests from Manchester and pointed out that:" Manchester City Football Club is strongly connected with The University and China Centre. Former Captain Vincent Kompany is Manchester Global MBA alumnus; Manchester City F.C. stadium hosted graduation reception for MBA graduates from China. It is a great honor for the Centre to welcome Dr. Soriano to offer a fantastic chance for our MBA students with a better understanding about the globalization and power relationships in football and in business."

During his keynote speech, Dr. Soriano highlighted how football business differs from other industries and how different dimensions of power are used in football business. Manchester City Football Club is well-known as Premier League Champions for the second successive season and in doing so become the first Club to retain the title in over a decade. The achievement of Manchester City F.C.'s crowning glory and exponential growth could be explained by Dr. Ferran Soriano's implementation of business management strategies and rich experience in the wider commercial world make him exceptionally well equipped to lead Manchester City Football Club and give them the opportunity to compete against best clubs by taking right initiatives.

Dr. Soriano introduced the holistic picture of City Football Group with 7 well-known international football clubs and global offices, which shows its global ambition in terms of business development. Dr. Soriano's brilliant speech enlightened the audience with what principles distinguish his successful model and start to think deeply about how to nurture an effective motivation and more than 1,000 football player team climate through the top quality managerial structure. Dr. Soriano also highlighted the importance of young talents education globally through good training of intelligence, and the social responsibility taken by football managers so as to deliver the right messages. He also shared in his speech about how to draw an effective strategy to create profits through the expansion in emerging markets, and attract high profile partnerships and clients both globally and regionally.

Dr. Soriano obtained both MBA and DBA degrees and being a legend in business management. Before he was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer at Manchester City F.C. in 2012, he was the Vice-Chairman and CEO at Football Club Barcelona, and has worked for several multinational companies across Europe and America with more than 20 years of strategic consultancy and executive experience in football, telecommunications, consumer goods and aviation which equipped him well to lead Manchester City through its continued evolution. Dr. Soriano also provides advise to new  July 2019 Manchester Global MBA students, "Everything takes 10 years, as it needs 10 years to be the best of something, and you'd better choose something you really like".
