Director's Message

The University of Manchester has set social responsibility as one of the three core strategic goals, sitting equally alongside its commitments to research and discovery, and teaching and learning.  Adhered to the University’s strategy, China Centre has always committed to supporting and promoting sustainable development in the region. This year, we are thrilled to support the 2022 British Business Awards and the Award of Employee Engagement ESG Campaign of the Year. We are also proud to be the exclusive academic supporter of ESG China Awards 2022, hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai, which perfectly suits our values and core goals.

This fall, we continued our efforts in welcoming and cultivating socially responsible graduates and professionals. A new cohort of MSc Financial Management students from different cities across the region have joined us in this blended-learning course. At the same time, China Centre hosted various roundtable seminars with focuses on educational leadership, international talent maintenance, and career transformation for working professionals.

It was with great sadness that we have lost Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in September. Her Majesty holds a special place in the University’s history and memory. We feel deeply grateful for Her Majesty’s contribution to the UK-China friendship and people's unity on celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Ambassadorial Relations between China and the UK this year. China Centre will continue to carry forward the cause of bilateral friendship and become a bridge between the two peoples.

Sherry Fu

Regional Director
