July is an exciting month for the final year students at the University of Manchester. With festive spirit in the air and celebrations lined up – the Global MBA finalists flew over from all parts of the world to join the home counterparts for the grand Graduation Ceremony on 18th July. Prior to the big day, a pre-graduation party initiated by China Centre was held at Manchester City Football club’s home ground – Etihad Stadium on 17th July. Global and MBA Director Prof. Elaine Fernley welcomed and congratulated the graduates on this very special occasion. China centre Director Ms. Sherry Fu and Associate MBA Director Mr. Xavier Duran also joined Elaine for this big party.
After Elaine’s speech, 5 graduates from China centre, who notably thoroughly enjoyed their MBA experience, shared memorable moments of their MBA journey with their fellow colleagues and family members. The atmosphere was relaxed, delightful and mostly importantly celebratory! Having close family and friends made over the MBA years together at the iconic Etihad Stadium celebrating a personal achievement well worked for was such a great experience for the MBA graduates.
The Global MBAs graduation ceremony was arranged in the afternoon on Monday. Dean of Manchester Business School Prof. Fiona Devine delivered a congratulatory speech to the cohort. In the meantime, highlighted how the Business School has been utilizing the donation received last year from Lord Alliance of Manchester. The donation has been supporting the School on several meaningful projects, notable on the recently established Health Research Centre, which shall encourage research and benefit future students. After the speech, the ceremony was hosted by Professor Elaine Ferneley while each graduate were called one by one to receive their degree certificate. “I was waiting nervously for my name to be called. As I walked to the stage, had my hands shaken and were given the certificate I have been so passionately worked for- it was amazing!! It just happened too quickly!” said one of the Global MBA graduates. The ceremony marked an end to a 2.5-year investment of time and effort, yet it opens a brand new chapter in each graduate’s life – while the general management approach and practical experience accumulated are yet to put to test in everyone’s career and life, whether as a corporate manager or a starting up entrepreneur. May the post-MBA journey be full of exciting achievement and fun.
