Winter 2025
As the year draws to a close and winter invites a time of reflection, I am delighted to extend my warmest greetings to you and to look back on another remarkable chapter for the China Centre.
This has been a year of both harvest and innovation, marked by meaningful milestones and inspiring engagements.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Alliance Manchester Business School, we were delighted to welcome back Professor Ken McPhail, Head of AMBS, to China for a series of engagements with alumni, academics and entrepreneurs. During the year, we organised a series of events including the third AI forum, industrial insight sessions, and ESG alumni corporate visits. These initiatives strengthened the connection between the University and local enterprises, as we explored together the next chapter of innovation and impact in business.
We were also pleased to mark the 5th anniversary of the MA Educational Leadership in Practice programme in China. Through the dedicated efforts of the distinguished academic team, students, alumni, and all staff involved, this award-winning programme has become a significant milestone in cultivating international education leaders in China.
Looking ahead, we do so with great anticipation. To echo the University’s “Challenge Accepted” campaign, we are thrilled to launch a series of events in Beijing and Shanghai next March. We look forward to the return of our President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Duncan Ivison, and to welcoming more alumni to join us in shaping Manchester solutions to the urgent challenges facing our world.
We are also excited that next spring, for the first time, the University will hold its parallel graduation ceremony here in China. This will allow our graduates to experience the pride and tradition of a Manchester graduation closer to home—a memorable culmination of their academic journey.
In closing, I wish to express my sincere gratitude to our alumni, partners, and friends for your steadfast support. It is through your commitment that we continue to build meaningful connections, inspire minds, and create lasting impact.
Wishing you and your loved ones a peaceful festive season and a New Year filled with hope and accomplishment.
Warm regards,
Sherry Fu
