From 9th July to 13th July, the induction for Manchester Global Part-time MBA July 2019 new students was successfully held at the University of Manchester China Centre. 124 outstanding working professionals officially entered the University of Manchester, including new students from Manchester Global MBA and Tongji-Manchester Global MBA programme. They are ready to embark on their career transformation in the global platform.

The background of our July 2019 MBA students maintains diversified, from pharmaceutical , FMCG, manufacturing, logistics, finance, management consulting and other business areas, with an average of 8-15 years of work experience in top MNCs, i.e. AstraZeneca, Unilever, Rolls Royce, Roche, Maersk, PwC, KPMG, L'Oreal, Fosun, Meituan, DuPont, Continental etc.. These industry leaders are from different countries and regions such as Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany, and Singapore. With profound industrial background, rich management experience and international composition, it will undoubtedly bring cross-cultural integration and inspire more innovation in the future.

Before the induction started, our new students took pictures at China Centre so as to the record the new chapter in their lives. 

At the same time, some of our new students shared their expectations and goals for the next two years in front of the camera – facing the rapidly changing business and social environment, they hope to make progress together with fellows, to explore the world, and meet unlimited opportunities.

Ms. Sherry Fu, Director of the University of Manchester China Centre, delivered a welcome speech. She said that she was very happy to see a new batch of management talents joining Manchester Global MBA Programme, and hope that everyone can share knowledge and culture on this platform to further transform into a global business leader of excellence. Ms. Sherry also highlighted that: "to choose the University of Manchester Global MBA Programme means that you have made a wise choice. I hope that next two years of study will bring a broader perspective to everyone present and become a better decision in the future."

Dr. Jiyao Xun, Associate MBA Director, Alliance Manchester Business School, introduced the curriculum and educational goals of the Manchester Global MBA programme to the new students. He also highlighted the rigorous teaching and learning philosophy of the University of Manchester. It's unique Manchester Method is applied through MBA teaching and is based on the latest and most complex real business environment in the 21st century, making the students learn the most cutting-edge business knowledge and management skills in the constantly changing global economy, and achieving a balance between theory and practice.

Ms. Lauren Hodgson, Senior Programme Administrator from Alliance Manchester Business School, introduced the revolutionary innovations in the field of educational technology to the MBA programme, which is in blended learning format. 

Based on the University's powerful information technology, the student learning system is implemented a groundbreaking combination of online and offline teaching, which facilitates students to interact with professors and other students 24 hours a day outside the classroom to maximize their use of a wealth of learning resources.

Besides, during the study, students have at least 3 chances to go to the University of Manchester’s global centres including Manchester, Dubai, Brazil, Singapore, Hong Kong and other international centers to gain more face-to-face experience with the collision of ideas from different regional cultures, which would definitely expand international networks so as to be a true global citizen.

Yvonne He, who is responsible for China Center Alumni Communication, gave a brief introduction to the alumni activities and resources. The Manchester Global MBA programme has a wealth of alumni resources and colorful alumni activities. Students and alumni can join industry clubs including pharmaceutical, marketing, law, leadership, etc. according to their own industry and personal preferences during their studies, and work together with like-minded partners to make progress together.

China Centre student support team met with students and team leader Ms. Penny Zhou introduced administration policy and student support regulations. She pointed out that in the next two years, the Student Support Team will provide timely guidance and support to the students to help them make more effective use of the university's powerful information base resources and successfully complete their studies.

The new students are also looking forward to gaining a wider international experience through the upcoming study tour, deep understanding of the exchanges with people and organizations with diverse cultural backgrounds, and the ability to create value. In the context of the rapid development of international business in the future, to be equipped with a global perspective and innovation, they will stand out and grow into effective global managers.

During the same period, four experienced senior managerial professionals (Manchester Global Accelerated MBA programme new students) from The University of Manchester China Centre attended induction on campus in Manchester. They mingled with other experienced professionals from the other centres and embarked on their brand new learning journey together.
