March 2026
Dear friends and alumni,
As we move from the warmth of Spring Festival into the momentum of March, a new season begins — one that invites reflection, renewal, and decisive action. On behalf of the University of Manchester China Centre, thank you for being part of our growing community.
This month, we are honoured to welcome the President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester on his return visit to China. During this visit, we will host the “Challenge Accepted” global campaign launch, together with alumni dinners in Shanghai and Beijing. We warmly invite alumni across China to reconnect, exchange perspectives, and shape the next chapter of our shared journey.
March will also feature a series of Global Part-time MBA open classes and themed events in Shanghai and Beijing. Discussions will explore innovation strategy, women’s leadership, organisational transformation in the AI era, the “second career curve,” and policy-driven energy transition — issues that are reshaping both business practice and individual career trajectories.
Looking ahead to 2026, the China Centre will proudly mark its 18th anniversary — a milestone symbolising continuity, growth, and renewed ambition. We look forward to progressing together with every learner, alumnus, and partner as we build a future that is more open, more connected, and more globally engaged.
As spring unfolds, may you move forward with clarity and confidence. May your ambitions remain steady, and your next step purposeful.
We look forward to welcoming you to our March events.

15 March | Beijing: In Conversation with New Oriental — Unlock Your Career Second Curve
 |
In an era of rapid AI disruption, shorter industry cycles, and intensifying workplace competition, relying on a single career track is increasingly risky. The “Second Curve” theory, proposed by management thinker Charles Handy, suggests that sustainable growth depends on building a new growth engine before the first one peaks.
On 15 March, we invite Zhu Zheng, Director of the Career Center at New Oriental Vision Overseas, to share practical insights on developing your career “Second Curve.”
This session will explore one central question: How can we proactively build long-term career resilience and move from passive adaptation to strategic growth in uncertain times?
Drawing on over a decade of experience in higher education and industry collaboration, Mr Zhu will discuss: • What career capabilities matter most today • How to upgrade skills, switch tracks, and build cross-disciplinary strength • How to break through mid-career bottlenecks and design a sustainable, risk-resistant path
The session is ideal for early-career professionals, mid-career managers, and those considering career transformation.
📅 15 March 2026 | 14:30–16:00 📍 Regent Beijing
Join us to rethink your growth strategy and build your next curve before you need it.
