With the arrival of summer’s warmth and renewed energy, I’m delighted to extend heartfelt greetings and reflect on a season of meaningful engagement and impact at the University of Manchester China Centre.
This spring, we had the honour of welcoming Professor Duncan Ivison, our new President and Vice-Chancellor, on his first official overseas visit since assuming the role in 2024. Joined by a distinguished cross-faculty delegation, Professor Ivison engaged with strategic partners, top universities, and our vibrant alumni community. The visit reaffirmed the University’s enduring ties with China and our shared dedication to academic excellence and global collaboration, and the spirit of collaboration is central to our mission as we contribute to the Manchester 2035 strategy.
This year, we are also celebrating a landmark moment—the 60th anniversary of AMBS. To mark this milestone, the China Centre has delivered a dynamic series of events, including the Vital Topics lecture series, the Manchester Day of Action, and the AMBS 60 Bus Campaign. These initiatives honour our legacy while underscoring our continued efforts to reshape business education and develop the next generation of responsible leaders.
Social responsibility remains a cornerstone of all our activities. We are proud that the University of Manchester has once again been ranked first in the UK and Europe, and second in the world, for social and environmental impact by the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings—an affirmation of our university's global commitment to positive change. Earlier in April, we participated in Shanghai Climate Week 2025, co-hosted the Asia-Pacific ESG Education Assessment Framework Seminar, and supported the 2025 Sustainability & Innovation Awards hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai. These engagements mark significant steps in advancing ESG education and building a more inclusive and responsible future.
As our AMBS 60th anniversary celebrations continue in the coming months, we look forward to further opportunities to engage, connect, and inspire.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Wishing you a joyful and enriching summer.
Warm regards,
Sherry Fu
