The launch of University of Manchester China Centre 10th Anniversary Alumni Book & End-of-Year Alumni Party
On 18th Dec., 2018, the launch of University of Manchester China Centre 10th Anniversary Alumni Book & End-of-Year Alumni Party took place in Shanghai.As China Marks 40th Anniversary of Reform and Opening Up, UoM China Centre extends the warmest congratulations and join the happy occasion with the celebration of its 10 years in China striving to deliver international talent development schemes and the officially launch of the UoM China Centre 10th Anniversary Alumni Book after 12-month of planing and preparation.

The University of Manchester China Centre Celebrates 10 years’ anniversary in China this year. The highlight was on 26th September when the Sino-UK creative economy business forum and alumni gala dinner was successfully held in Shanghai.
Why MBA matters? Roundtable sharing
Manchester Global MBA Panel Discussion was successfully held in Beijing this October. Four female alumni were invited for the round table and discussed why MBA matters.Stepped into 10th year in China, the university has brought its unique teaching method, world class programmes, and forefront academy into Chinese talent market, helping working professionals to accelerate their career growth.
Healthcare Insights Interview - Global Trends of Healthcare Transformation
Healthcare reform has been of growing interest in China, covering aspects, such as widening provision and introducing more efficient use of healthcare resources. On 28th Sept. in discussion of the global trends in different healthcare systems, China Centre invited two experts for an interview. Dr. Stephen Brookes, Senior Fellow Public Policy and Leadership and Dr. Kathy Shi CEO & Founder of Sino-United Health Clinic.
Top Talk on Blockchain: Challenges & Opportunities in Today’s Business
On 12th Oct., The University of Manchester China Centre has invited Michael Xia, senior manager in cyber security and innovation and a blockchain expert from PwC to share with our students and alumni about blockchain and its applications in non-financial areas. Around 20 students and alumni joined this talk, all showed strong interest in blockchain applications in China regardless of experiences and familiarities with blockchain.
Global Accelerated MBA - Enriched China experience
As the supplement to facilitate the interaction and enhance students learning experience, the University of Manchester China Centre hosted Huangpu River excursion event to welcome our GAMBA students who were travelling across the world to study in China in October. A yacht tour in the evening brought unforgettable experiences to the GAMBA delegates from over 10 countries.
Meeting with Professor Ken McPhail
On 23rd October, the University of Manchester China Centre has invited Professor Ken McPhail, Deputy Head of Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) , Research Director & Chair in Accounting to deliver a talk to alumni on “What Role Should Business Play in Society?”, followed by Q&A and networking.
Understanding Chinese Healthcare service environment - visit to United Family Health
In the afternoon of 3rd Dec, China centre Director Sherry Fu, and Dr. Stephen Brookes were hosted by Christine Lee, the Associate General Manager of the United Family Healthcare hospital at Pudong. A discussion between the promises and prospects of the current process of healthcare reform in China went on between Dr. Brookes and Ms. Lee. After the visit, Dr Brookes shared his findings and expertise in an article later.
Series of Information Sessions
During the period of September to December, China centre run over 15 programme recruitment sessions in Shanghai, Beijing and Jiangsu for Manchester Global MBA, Kelley-Manchester Global MBA, MSc International Healthcare Leadership programmes. The sessions together offered opportunities to more than 400 attendees - mostly prospective students and many alumni and current students. Assistance was provided for those aspiring for a Manchester education.

Strategic Management Workshop Taster in Suzhou
On 28th Oct., a Manchester Global MBA workshop taster session on Strategic Management by Mr. Xavier Duran was successfully held in Suzhou. The weekend afternoon session welcomed an exciting turnout of prospective students. Some current students and alumni also joined the session to share their study experience.

Marketing and Operations Workshop Taster
What is authentic British education like? On 10th October, China Centre hosted a Global MBA Taster Session on Marketing and Operations Management, led by Dr. Alison Ashton for an insightful session.
Healthcare Leadership Workshop Taster
Joining China Centre on 1st Dec., a group of prospective students attended a workshop taster delivered by Dr. Stephen Brookes for a live class experience of the newly launched MSc International Healthcare Leadership. The session discussed challenges and opportunities facing healthcare leaders in global healthcare industry.

Marketing club event
On 18th Dec., 2018, the University of Manchester China Centre Alumni marketing Club invited two guest speakers to share with alumni their views and practice on “Co-Branding”. Co-founder of the club, Ms. Aileen Wei welcomed all attendees to join the club and shared her own experience from being a regional director of a multinational to starting up her own companies.
Alumni visit to Kunshan
On 2nd Dec. Sunday, a group of alumni who are keen in learning more about innovation and starting up their own companies visited Kunshan, including Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association (SORSA) Kunshan Innovation and Start-up Base and Duke kunshan university.
Series of alumni events
A series of alumni activities took place and engaged over 200 hundred alumni the past month, from exciting outdoor club events for business school desert challenge, career development session using creative Lego methods, innovative company visits to multi-dimensional alumni engagement. click to read more.

China Centre Awarded at the Best Education of China 2018 Award Ceremony
On 12 December, the Best Education of China 2018 Award ceremony was held in Beijing Diaoyutao State Guesthouse. Ms. Fu, The University of Manchester China Centre Director, was invited to join leading educators, academics and entrepreneurs for a discussion of internationalising education and education reforms at the award ceremony.
China Centre Supports British Business Awards
The 10th anniversary British Business Awards (BBA) Gala Dinner was hosted in Beijing on 15 November. The Awards recognises and promotes excellence in innovation, enterprise and endeavour in the British and Chinese business communities.The University of Manchester China Centre was invited to present at the Gala Dinner as the most outstanding important partner regional ambassador Sino-UK relationship.
China Centre Awarded Distinguished Brand for Business Education
On 8 November, the University of Manchester (UoM) China Centre was awarded “Distinguished Brand for Business Education” at the Annual Tencent Business School Development Forum. Out of all nominees, UoM was the only foreign education institution.
