GMBA Alumni Panel in Beijing: Why MBA Matters?

Manchester Global MBA Panel Discussion was successfully held in Beijing last Sunday afternoon. Four female alumni were invited for the round table and discussed why MBA matters.

Sherry Fu, regional director of the University of Manchester China centre reviewed the development history of the centre.

As the moderator, Sherry asked the panelists to share the motivation why they think about a MBA years ago.

Katherine
President of Hardon, International Education

Katherine, holding CICPA certificate working in banking industry for more than 10 years, she joined a multinational company after obtained another reputable professional certificate from ICAEW around 2008.

She demanded the knowledge of business operation and management during this jobtransformation. Throughout the MBA learning journey, she equipped herself withthe elements of an entrepreneur. She applied learning into the operation of her business. “Spirit of constant learning is one of the key features of the MBA students group”, She said ”we have to remain vigilant in the fast-changing business world.”

Annie
Communication Director, Schneider Electric

Annie works in a French company with more than 20 years specialising in marketing. She enjoys the working atmosphere in multinational companies and is very firm that she will continue her future career in this sector.

The residential workshop in global centres offered by Manchester Global MBA programme is the shining point to Annie. Considering the combination of personal development and family growth, Annie planned to work at one of her company’s global centres when her daughter goes abroad to study. Managing Partner, Prowise CPAs

Established her own business many years ago, Corrine found her shortage of business knowledge when clients come to her for the consulting projects. Qianqian’s background is different from most MBA candidates. Growing up in a family of doctors, she excelled at school but interested in doing business.

She worked in a pharmaceutical company after graduation. When asked about how to balance life during the MBA learning journey, she said, “I spent one hour learning, another hour exercise, and devote 8 hours to my job. I believe we all can manage it if we rank everything on right priority. " Thanks to the supports from family, she found a perfect point on balancing work, study and family.

The panelists all agreed it is a struggling and suffering process, yet it would bring many more than expected if great efforts were paid.
