On 17th July, 2013, Manchester Business School China Centre organized aninformation session and workshop taster at The Portman Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai for around 50 working professionals. Mr Nigel Banister, Chief Global Officer of Manchester Business School, Sherry Fu, MBS China Director and Dr. PKay Richardson presented the event.

Firstly, Mr. Nigel Banister gave the audience an introduction on Manchester Business School. Compared with U.S. business schools, European business schools are more diversified, international and focus more on interaction between students and teachers. As part of the glorious University of Manchester which embedded 25 Nobel Prize winners, Manchester Business School is one of the first business schools in U.K. to provide MBA education and now is the largest campus based business school in U.K. Triple accreditations by AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB are concrete proof of MBS’ excellence in academics, teaching and cultivation of leaders al around the world.

After Mr. Nigel Banister’s introduction, Dr. PKay Richardson gave the audience a wonderful lecture on leadership.Dr. PKay pointed out that nowadays Good Management was no longer enough, and an increasing dose of Leadership skills became vital for steering organisations through such change.  Increasingly, it has become apparent that highly successful firms are those led by CEOs who combine managerial and leadership skills. Leadership skills have become very important and those who aim to run companies in this century have no business in that job if they are poor leaders. Passion, Vision, Self-confidence, tolerance for ambiguity and paradox, intuition and empathy are key forces that drive leadership. The lecture by Dr. PKay inspires the working professionals to think about their, how to perform better in such a turbulent business environment through development of leadership.

Finally Manchester Business School China Centre Director Ms. Sherry Fu gave a detailed introduction on Manchester Business School Global MBA programme. MBS MBA Program ranked No. 5 globally in ROI by Forbes 2011 and DBA Program ranked No. 1 globally by Financial Times 2011.
