Big Data and Business Insight Forum

Big Data is all about delivering new insights to decision makers. As reported in a Forbes article, Walmart wanted to find out what the biggest selling items were that people bought before a hurricane hit. The No. 1 answer—batteries— was not a surprise, but the unexpected No. 2 item was Kellogg’s Pop‐Tarts, as they last a long time, don’t require refrigeration or preparation, and are easy to carry and store. As a result of this intelligence, Walmart can now stock up on Pop‐Tarts in its Gulf Coast stores ahead of storm season.

But this is just one example, big data now has witnessed worldwide attention and more and more application from various industries. While it serves these industries, it also causes disruptive innovation, totally changes the way we live, learn and work.

On the 22nd April, four experts will come to the UoM China Centre, to share with us this important topic. We will talk about not only big data technology, but also business insight that generated from technology and how we can apply that insight to help us make better decision for different companies from different industries. This will be a very interesting and thought-provoking event.

If you are keen to know the essentials, please pencil in the date on your diary! Bring your voice, view & experience to our MBS Big data and Business Insight Forum!
